Vicki York Obituary, Death – Vicki Chastain York, a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023, at the age of 65. Clayton, Georgia, is in mourning. Vicki was born on May 21, 1958, to Harley James Chastain and Lillian “Stiles” Chastain. She left a loving, caring, and religious legacy that impacted everyone she came into contact with.
Vicki was a rock of strength in her community in addition to being a wife, mother, and grandma. Vicki York was married to her loving husband Felix York, and her life revolved around her family and her steadfast beliefs. She was a devoted follower of Middle Creek Baptist Church in the Flats and a shining example of compassion and humility. Those closest to her remember a woman of God who never talked poorly of anyone, displaying an uncommon kindness that won over everyone. Her soul was as varied as her passions.
Vicki found happiness and comfort in the little things in life. Vicki was full of thankfulness and joy for every moment, whether she was painting rocks, canning the produce, or throwing a line into the waterways she loved to fish in. Vicki leaves behind her devoted spouse, Felix York; her son, Corey York; her daughter, Misty Lanier; and her two adored granddaughters, Morgan Lanier and Danielle Lanier Dowdal. Lishea Chastain, her sister, and Ed (Cyndi), and Dickie (Juanita) Chastain, her brothers, also remember her.
Her loss is being mourned by a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins in the community. Blalock-Thompson Cemetery will have a Graveside Service on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Kenny Kilby officiating. The community is welcome to gather in the Persimmon Baptist Church friendship Hall for a time of friendship and remembering after the service.
