Thomas Bernard Obituary, Death – In Memoriam: Thomas Bernard, affectionately known as “Bernie,” peacefully passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by the care of Churches of Christ Villa Carramar Aged Care in Stanthorpe. A devoted husband to Cynthia, who preceded him in death, Bernie’s life was a testament to love, family, and the simple joys that enriched his 92 years.
Bernie leaves behind a legacy of love as a cherished father and father-in-law to Grant and Anne, Mark and the late Judy, Debra and David Faulkner, and Kerry and Janine. His influence extended to his grandchildren, a total of 12, and his pride in his 20 great-grandchildren knew no bounds. Bernie’s commitment to family and the bonds he forged were evident in the numerous lives he touched across generations. The family invites relatives and friends to join in remembering Bernie at the Funeral Mass to be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on St. John Street in Texas on Thursday, November 16th, starting at 10:30 am. The service will be a celebration of Bernie’s life, marked by love, laughter, and the fond memories shared by all who knew him.
As the Mass concludes, a cortege will respectfully proceed to the Texas Cemetery, where Bernie will find his final resting place. The epitaph on his journey, “Gone Fishing,” encapsulates his love for the simple pleasures and reflects the peace he now finds. The ceremony will not only bid farewell to a beloved individual but will also serve as a collective tribute to a life well-lived, leaving behind cherished memories etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know Thomas Bernard, “Bernie.”
