Shemikia Brown Car Accident, Death, Obituary – The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently looking into a horrific head-on collision that claimed the lives of a mother and her three children on Highway 146 in Polk County. Shemikia Brown, a 34-year-old Livingston resident, and the three children in her car are said to have perished tragically and unexpectedly, according to a PolkCountyToday.com report.
Reports from state troopers indicate that sometime after 10 p.m. on Thursday, Brown was driving south on Highway 146 in a Buick Lucerne. During this time, she lost control of her car due to the wet road, causing it to slip into the northbound lane. The man in issue was involved in an accident with a GMC pickup truck driven by a thirty-year-old man from Livingston. Brown and three children—a boy, age two, an eleven-year-old boy, and a girl, age thirteen—passed away from their wounds at the scene.
A six-year-old girl was brought to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment of injuries that constituted a serious risk to her life. The second car’s driver was not hurt. On the sidewalk by Mill Gate Road, both automobiles stopped. Traffic diversion tactics were put in place by Polk County Sheriff’s Office troopers and deputies to encourage drivers to avoid the accident scene.
