Phil, the son of the late Janet (dec), Brown (dec), and Tangi, was a bright light in the lives of everyone who met him. Phil was more than just a brother, uncle, or cousin to his whanau; he was a beloved member of the family. His friendly demeanor and generous nature won the hearts of everyone he met.

Phil’s amazing gift for connecting with others on a personal level left an indelible mark on countless lives. Phil’s relationship with David, one of his closest friends and confidants, was unlike any other. Their relationship was unbreakable, and their exploits together became legends.

On Friday, September 22, 2023, Phil’s body will lie in state at 70 Kitchener Street, Wairoa, where friends and family can pay their respects. On September 23, 2023, at 11 a.m., there will be a tangihanga, a traditional Maori farewell. After the funeral service, Phil will be laid to rest in the tranquil surroundings of the Wairoa Lawn Cemetery.

The whanau is planning a touching reunion on Kitchener Street between 10 and 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) in the hopes of bringing Phil home again. Friends and relatives might come together early to remember the deceased and lend emotional support to one another.
