Margaret Mahowald Obituary, Beloved Resident Of Hastings Has Sadly Passed Away At 67

Margaret Mahowald Obituary,  Death – On September 20, 2023, Margaret “Maggie” A. Mahowald, 67 years old, a resident of Hastings, passed away without incident. Maggie treasured the time she got to spend with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. She became her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan by never missing a single one of their athletic competitions as they grew older. Maggie’s most treasured recollections include times spent at the cottage she shared with her siblings, as well as trips to the north coast, most notably to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls.

She was constantly getting ready for Christmas, no matter what time of year it was, because holidays were some of her very favorite things. It didn’t matter what season it was. Maggie was born in Hastings, and she has lived there her entire life. She was never satisfied with her time away from Hastings because she always looked forward to returning to the city.

When she was at her house, her favorite things to do were gardening, making crafts, and feeding the birds. Her parents, Richard Mahowald and Dorothy Mahowald, as well as her brother, Tom Mahowald, have passed away before her. She is survived by her children Melissa (Brad) Schiller, Ambrose Kieffer, and Richard (Rayanna) Kieffer; her grandchildren Brady, Josef, and Oliver Schiller; her siblings Steve Mahowald, Connie Mahowald, Pam Schmitt, Mark Mahowald, and Lisa Mahowald; in addition to a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on the day of the memorial service, Monday, September 25, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, and the service will begin at 11:00 AM. The Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings is currently putting the finishing touches on the arrangements.
