Clida Agent Obituary, Death – Madisonville, Kentucky, lost a cherished member of its community on September 20, 2023, as Clida “Dean” Miller Agent peacefully passed away at the age of 87. Dean’s life was a tapestry of love, family, and joy, and her presence touched the hearts of many.
Born on January 9, 1936, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, Dean was the daughter of Joe Clark and Ona Dabbs Clark. Throughout her life, she was a woman of resilience, having overcome the loss of her first husband, Ben Miller, and later finding love again with her second husband, Tom Agent. Her journey was marked by both hardship and happiness.
Dean’s career led her to become a manager at Carhartt, where her dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression. Beyond her professional life, she had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. Dean was a familiar face at the local bowling alley, where she showcased her competitive spirit, and on the dance floor, where she could light up the night.
She was a devoted family woman, relishing the moments spent watching her grandchildren play sports and enjoying card games with loved ones. Dean’s love for her daughter, Rene Hollis, was unwavering, and her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother brought immense joy to her life.
Dean is survived by her sisters, Rebecca Clark, Betty Clark, and Georgia Howard, her brother, James Clark, and her sister-in-law, Bettye Clark, along with her grandson, Shawn Hollis, and great-grandchildren Caleb, Evan, Maggie, Warner Hollis, Oslo, and Sidney Gilmore.
Funeral services to honor Dean’s memory will be held at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., with Marshall Clark officiating. She will find her final resting place at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson.
Visitation will take place from 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Sunday at the funeral home. In honor of her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Senior Citizens Center at 200 N. Main St, Madisonville, KY 42431. Envelopes for donations will be available at the funeral home.
