Charles Martin Obituary, Death- Charles Maurice Martin was a cherished patriarch in our family and we are devastated to share the news of his loss. Charles passed away at the age of 93 on September 11, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and affection. His loved ones are grieving his loss greatly.
Charles was raised by his parents, William Herbert Martin and Mildred Neva Martin (Locke), who gave him a strong foundation in empathy, honesty, and loyalty. He lived his entire life as a shining example of these traits. Together with his loving wife of nearly seven decades, Barbara Jean Martin (Gipson), he had four children and fostered a mutually supportive relationship.
They persevered through hardships and rejoiced in triumphs together. Charles cherished his four daughters—Deborah Martin, Heather Martin, Erin Richardson (Billy), and Melody Martin (Sissy—and did his best to provide for them). He took great pride in being a father and did everything in his power to help and inspire his kids throughout their lives.
Charles also leaves behind his sister, Betty Poe, with whom he enjoyed a special affinity throughout their lives. The strength of their familial bonds is on display in the way they’ve shared stories and recollections for so long. Charles is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who brought him enormous joy and pride.
His pride in them was boundless, and his affection for them was limitless. Charles Maurice Martin’s life exemplified the transformative potential of unconditional affection, devoted family, and unyielding loyalty. Those who had the honor of knowing and loving him will keep his spirit alive in their memories.
