Anne Duncan Obituary, Death – On September 14, 2023, the world said goodbye to a beloved soul, Anne Margaret Duncan (nee Spalding), who passed away peacefully at her home in Carnoustie. She was just ten days shy of her 82nd birthday. Anne’s journey was marked by a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease, but her unwavering spirit and the love of her family brought her comfort during her final days.
Anne was not just a beloved wife; she was the heart and soul of her family. Her devoted husband, Fred (Alfred), cared for her tenderly throughout her illness. Anne was a loving and adored mother to Lorna and Hillary and a cherished mother-in-law to Ian. Her role as a grandmother was a source of immense pride, as she watched over Amber and Hazel with love and joy.
In addition to her immediate family, Anne was a special sister to Shona and shared a deep bond with her late brother, Jimmy. She was not just a family member but also a good friend to many who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff, especially the Hillcrest carers, who provided exceptional care and support to Anne during her illness.
Anne’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 26, at 12:30 p.m. at Parkgrove Crematorium in Friockheim. Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Station Hotel in Carnoustie at 1:30 p.m., where friends and well-wishers are respectfully invited to join for a ‘cup of tea’ in her memory. In accordance with Anne’s wishes, the family requests that attendees wear bright colors to celebrate her vibrant spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made at the Crematorium to support Parkinson’s U.K. as a tribute to Anne’s memory.
Anne Margaret Duncan’s legacy of love and resilience will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
